Chapter 3 of Intermediate Algebra deals with systems. The chapter reviews systems of multiple equations in multiple variables and how to use such systems to solve algebraic problems. Other topics include elimination using matrices, determinants, and Cramer's Rule. At the close of the chapter, business and economic applications are presented, and a student can see how the use of algebra directly relates to household dilemmas, such as staining a wood floor.
